The Grand European Tour is something that a lot of people dream about. Unbeknownst to some, however, the “grand” tour does not have to cost all that much! If you know how to save on certain things, even the average person can traipse all around Europe.

One of the cheapest ways to get around the continent is by bus. The bus network in Europe is quite extensive, and buses offer a cheap yet comfortable way to travel. Another advantage of traveling Europe by bus is the fact that buses can go where trains and boats may not reach.

You have three general options when it comes to bus travel in Europe. First, you may look for a national bus company that has routes in between the countries of your choice. Second, you may check out Eurolines, which is considered to be the largest bus network in the continent. Third, you may opt for Busabout, which offers trips through a hop-on hop-off predetermined route.

The big advantage of Eurolines is that it has more than 30 independent coach companies as its members. As such, travelers have a wide range of choices, and you can book your whole trip through them. They also have bus passes, which can save a lot of money!

Busabout offers an alternative to many travelers, as it simplifies everything. Countries include Italy, Greece, Spain, Croatia, Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium and France. All you need to do is choose the route which suits you the most. The pass that they offer is affordable, but has the drawback of being predetermined. As such, if you are the type to change your mind, you might not want to go the Busabout route.

Bottom line: do your research to figure out the best possible choice for your needs.
