The breathtaking Positano on Italy's Amalfi Coast is well worth a visit

Also known as Costiera Amalfitana, the Amalfi Coast of Italy is located in the southern part of the Sorrentine Peninsula. This long stretch of coastline is just south of Naples and encompasses many towns. Some of the most known are Sorrento, Capri, Vesuvius, Positano, Amalfi, and Ravello.

The Amalfi Coast is well known for its wonderful beauty – rugged coastlines, picturesque views, and astounding landscapes. All these await the visitor to the Amalfi coast. These are also the reasons that so many people flock to this part of Italy during the peak season. As such, the best time to visit the Amalfi Coast is during the months when tourists do not normally go – May, June, September and the first half of October.

Each city found on the Coast has its own attraction. Sorrento, for example, is a great place to use as your base as you explore the other parts of the Coast. Capri, as you may already know, is famous for the Blue Grotto, among other things. If you want to trek the world famous volcano, Vesuvius is your destination of choice.

Wherever you go, you are sure to find a resort that will cater to your needs and preferences. The turquoise blue waters and the amazing views will certainly calm your spirit. Of course, shopping is also an attraction. The Amalfi Coast is famous for anything lemon – you will get more than your fill of Limoncello here. Ceramics are also one of the most commonly bought items in the Coast.
