Serbia is situated in the heart of the Balkans. It has a long and rich history, which has not always been pleasant. Indeed, the conflict that occurred in the early 90s contributed to the decline of the tourism sector; but today, Serbia is back on its feet, and is fast becoming a popular tourist destination.

There are many things that one can do and see in Serbia. Belgrade, its capital, is one of the most popular cities in the country. Belgrade is located at the confluence of two rivers – the Danube and the Sava. It is a wonder to stroll around the city, with many landscapes awaiting your discovery. A visit to Belgrade will not be complete without at least one visit to Street Knez Mihailova. During summer, visitors can go to Lake Ada Ciganlija to experience swimming at its best as well as indulge in some of the freshest fish. During the winter, swimming is not possible, but the old bars provide excellent entertainment and tasty food.

Monasteries and churches abound in Serbia. There are five sites which you absolutely must visit. These are: Studenica, Stari Ras, Sopocani, Djurdjevi Stupovi, and Decani. All of these are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. From the northern part of Serbia down to the south, you will not lack for these cultural sites.

Serbia is also known for its health resorts and spas. There are about 40 of these throughout the country. The mineral waters in the spas have excellent restorative powers. The best spas in the country are Vrnjacka Banja, Sokobanja, Mataruska Banja, and Niska Banja.
